James 3:18 (NLT)

18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.[a]

We are to be ministers of reconciliation.  We do not thrive on strife, but of sweetness and kindness.  We are called to do what is right and good.  We do not purposely bring strife between people who are getting along.  We are to be sensitive to delicate situations.  Timing is important.  We do not throw “gas on the fire (of controversy),” then sit back and watch the fire while smugly warming our hands.

Part of being a peacemaker is being submissive to our rulers so that we can bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ.

Even Jesus said that he had come to bring a sword (of divison).  Doing the right thing sometimes does not bring immediate peace.  Love is the key.

  1. 3:18 Or of good things, or of justice.
