In the Book of Acts Chapter 5, the religious rulers of that time could not deal with the persistent power of Jesus Christ. In fact, the rulers who had the apostles flogged, did not believe in resurrection or spirits. As Peter and the other apostles spoke to these offended men, they reminded them that the very one they crucified, had risen from the dead and that now, his Spirit lived in those who believed. Being non-believing, these religious leaders actually planned to kill the apostles at that time, but were warned of the danger of opposing God.
Jesus Christ holds the keys to death and life. Peter had been preaching the Good news that all who would come to Jesus could also share in these blessings….Peter himself had been given the keys to the kingdom and he was inviting many to the abundant life when he was intercepted by jealous religious rulers of the time.
